Increasing Traffic to Your Websites
(November 2007)

Greetings from TM Design! Our web design division is moving full speed ahead! Our latest completed projects are with RE/MAX Realtors Lisa Teach & Jeff Greenwood and Frederick Pediatric Dentistry. In light of the success of our web division, we thought we’d share some tips for increasing traffic to your websites:

Keep Web Content Fresh and Current
Regularly updating the content on your website will give visitors a reason to come back.

Consider Sending e-Newsletters
e-Newsletters will update clients on your latest news and promotions and provides links to your website to find out more info aobut each topic. We have used iContact, ExactTarget, and Constant Contact to design e-Newsletters for a variety of clients.

Add Keywords to your META Tags
A "META Tag" is a code in the HTML of your website that is used by search engines to categorize your site and allow people to find your pages. Click here to see an example. Include all appropriate keywords in your META tags, including synonyms. Make sure META tags are on all of your pages, not just the home page, and that the words in your META tags correspond with the words in your content. Using META tags won’t guarantee that you’ll show up at the top of every search engine listing. Use META tags along with other marketing strategies to bring in visitors.

Submit Your Site to Search Engines
META tags and great content won’t get you anywhere unless your website is submitted to search engines. Note: When we design web pages for our clients, we take care of the META Tags and search engine submission.

There are several other things you can do to increase web traffic to your site. Consider exchanging links with other websites or participating in a banner exchange. Add your web address in the signature of your emails and other correspondence.
